Our Review:
One of the longest-living board games around, monopoly thrives on the greed of its players. My frustration with the game lies in the amount of luck success requires, and the extremely slow extinction of players makes the game too long.

Negotiation game
I've been playing monopoly with the speed die recently which does make the game move faster, however I still find the game really boring. It takes way too long to play and you usually know who is going to win well before the game is over.
The only skill required in the game is negotiation, and you only get to utilize that skill for a couple of minutes over the course of a game that takes over an hour to play...
Overall, don't bother with this classic. There are much better games available today.

Sorta fun....sorta
This game seemed fun when I was a kid, but maybe that's because I played it when it was the only game to play. Wanna spend hours going around in a circle buying every property, building up hotels and then hoping that someone has had substantially more luck building up their holdings than everyone else, so the end game won't last a century.

A Game of Negotiation
Most people miss the point of this game. Thanks to the complicated rule. I myself understand the rule only after playing the PC edition.
Yes, you landed by chance on the property by dice throw. But later, you can negotiate any player to sell the property that you want with unlimited price. The power of persuasion is here. You must be able to calculate the risk. If the price is too high, you are going to be short of cash. If it's too low, nobody wants to do business with you.
That is the heart of Monopoly, how to make a deal and finally become the MONOPOLIST.

Classic, fun, easy, educational
The trick to avoid a long, drawn-out game is to follow the rules strictly. No "house rules", no rules passed down by generations of monopoly nuts. If you follow the original rules, the game moves much quicker. Good news for parents whose kids are always begging for someone to play with!
