Description:
In The Settlers of Catan Card Game you control a group of settlers taming the lands of medieval Catan. A unique card mix creates a map for your principality. Then explore and settle new lands, acquiring resources through card play and the luck of the dice. Use gold and combinations of resources to develop your domain, and guide your settlers to victory by clever trading and cunning development.
Expand your settlements and cities, and recruit knights to defend your territory and compete on the tournament field. But beware! When your opponent plays the Black Knight even your strongest knight can fall!
Of course the best strategy and a dash of luck decides who will be the undisputed ruler of Catan.

It Needs Something
My wife and I play, but feel the game needs "something" and gets too cumbersome near the end. To make up for lack of trading, I devised a "trade center" of the 6 resources with different die rolls than either player, and a mechanism to add or subtract resources based on the 2 dice rolled, allowing one trade per person per turn. Still, my wife complains she gets bored and the game needs some improvement to keep up our interest. We are experimenting with games to 10, "friendly" and compatible cards from the expansions, etc.

There is a 2-player version of the board game which is better.
My husband and I have been playing Settlers of Catan, Seafarers of Catan, and Cities and Knights for about two years and love all the board games. Our friends had picked up the card game and loaned it to us. We found the card game very disappointing in comparison to the board games. It takes a very long time to play and typically one player or another would run away with the game. It usually wasn't even close.
We highly recommend the 2-player version of the board game which can be found online at MayfairGames.com. Stick with the board game, and skip the card game.

catan card game classic
If you like settlers of catan but often only have two people to play, this is the perfect compromise. My husband and I have actually found this to be better at times than the board game. A must have for two players.

CATAN LOVER
My wife and I love the game!! It takes a few times to figure it out, but it is awesome. Great for your marriage. My wife is not the type that normally likes these kind of games. She hates Risk for example, but she loves it. The worst part is she wins allot.
