Description:
For the daring and adventurous, there are too many lost cities to seek and explore. The search can take you to the Himalayas, the Brazilian rain forest, the ever-shifting sands of the desert, ancient volcanoes and to Neptune’s Realm. Of course, one cannot go everywhere with limited resources so the players must choose which expeditions to begin and which to leave to others. Those with high confidence may have the opportunity to up the stakes: increasing the rewards for success, but risking more should the expedition fail. The player who finds the right balance will have successful expeditions. Too many expeditions will put a strain on limited resources and yield failure. Too few may guarantee success, but not victory!

Our Review:
Lost Cities is a two-player card game that is easy to learn and quick to play. Players mount expeditions to find ancient cities in various locations. The oversized cards are nicely rendered and visually appealing.
Game play involves taking calculated risks with corresponding payoffs. There are frequently tradeoffs to be made to be able to reach your goals without helping your opponent. The mix of luck and strategy makes each game a new experience. Despite the quick pace of the game, there is more strategy involved than first meets the eye. This is absolutely one of the best games around if you want some fun, but have a limited amount of time to play.

| Very Addictive
Lost Cities pits two players against each other in a battle to be the most successful explorer. The game consists of mounting expeditions to between one and five destinations with the aim of gaining profit.
This amounts to building up as many cards for each destination (suit) as possible, placing them in ascending order.
Additionally the player can play "investment cards" before starting to increase their potential score.
However each expedition must contain cards summing to a value of at least 20 in order to yield a profit. Otherwise the expedition will decrease your overall score.
At every turn you must continue an expedition or discard a card, allowing your opponent to pick it up. This leads to very difficult choices: forego extra profit on an expedition or allow the opponent a chance to pick up a vital card, for example.
The short playing time is also a significant factor, as the number of cards available determines how profitable your remaining expeditions are likely to be. There is much potential for strategic planning, particularly in the middle game.
Overall very quick to pick up and great fun, a well-designed card game which brings in some new elements that significantly improve on its traditional rummy-style basis.

| Best 2 player game
Lost Cities was the first game I bought here, and it has consistently been our favorite 2 player game. My wife and I needed some fun games to play together, and this fun, easy-to-learn game has given us fun on dozens and dozens of nights. We bought it for our brother and his wife and they played it nearly every night for about four months straight. Great game, great fun!

| Great Game!! Easy to learn and fun :)
Let me preface this in saying that I have always loved board and card games, but have never had much of a chance to play them as my wife and friends really don't like doing it... :( However, with the most recent ice storm to hit my city, my wife and I were without power for several days and were growing quite bored with Yhatzee and Uno. So, luckily our local game store still had power and we asked the sales clerk for the best 2 player game, that was simple to learn and still fun. He pointed us immediately to Lost Cities, and wouldn't even let us look at other games...lol
So, we got the game home and opened it up, and were playing through our first game with in then minutes and enjoying it very much. The game is simple to learn, but really takes a lot of strategy and planning to become good at it. We played it for 3 days straight, off and on and did not grow tired of it. My wife even initiated the gaming sessions, which has never happened before :) She usually only plays games with me to humor me.
The game itself is very well done, and the cards and board are quite beautiful. I would recommend this game to anybody looking for a quick two player game that is easy to pick up, but still has depth.
