| Luck, everthing depends on it
While the concept of Axis and Allies is rather sound. The implementation isn't, such as massive movement areas (western europe, germany, etc) and the faulty combat system. In the game you can come up with a brilliant strategy but if a few dice rolls don't go your way, it falls apart. In the game to have any half decent chance of winning I have to attack with at least 5 : 2 or more, and even that numbers doesn't often work.
While the game can't be too complicated for its own good, sometimes it should just add an extra condition or so to offset those faulty dice. The plastic pieces also have a remarkably 'cheap' feel to them, which sort off makes this feel a half- finished job.
Don't get me wrong, A & A 1942 is not a bad game, but certainly could be a lot better.
Overall not a bad game.
