| Best version
I find Ticket to Ride (never played with any of the expansions) a bit more cut-throat than Ticket to Ride Europe or Ticket to Ride Marklin, due to the routes being better in Europe/Marklin. The dice in TtRE is a turn off for me.
Marklin is the better release of the multi-player versions. The routes are better laid out than TTR. The German map takes some getting used to. I have printed off a smaller image of the map with a grid over it, letters running down the side, and numbers across. There is a letter-number key with each cities/country name on the page. Each player gets one. They should included this in the box. I also like the passenger element for scoring points. You not only have to manage route building but also these passengers. If the passengers are well played, i.e. routes connect up, you can score very well with them. Players cannot waste trains other than building routes or trying to connect up the passengers routes. This is a nice feature.

| Two Player Must
This game is great for 1 v 1 games. There are many different ways to win and in a two player game players need to react to their opponents moves. You cannot just play your own game and expect to win. Blocking and stealing passenger points off your opponents routes is vital to success.
It is also good for 3 players. With 4 or 5 players you can get away with playing your own game and more or less ignore what the other players are up to. It's still fun but there is less strategy.

| Brilliant game
I highly recommend this game to anyone. It is simply brilliant. I have played it many many times and am still always eager to play.
For me, the added element of passengers and passenger points make it the best game in the ticket to ride series. You need to seriously consider the best time to move your passengers based on the actions of the other players and this adds a larger strategy element to the game.
As with all the ticket to ride games, this is the perfect game for people who are new to board games. It is a game for the whole family and very simple to learn and play.
This is not often said about this game - but I have found the Marklin edition to be a particularly good 2 player game as well.
At first, if you're like me, it may take a little while to become accustomed to the German map! I hope to see more editions released in this series.
