Description:
Players take turns placing pieces on their board, each starting from their corner. Each new piece must touch at least one other piece of the same color, but only at the corners! The goal is to get rid of all your pieces. The game ends when all players are blocked from laying down any more of their pieces.

| The Best
I got this game on a whim 4 years ago when I was surfing for some Christmas ideas for my then 6 yr old son. We have played countless games since. I have bought and given this game at least 10 times, all with great feedback from the recipients. Many of our friends have gone out and bought it on our recommendation and have loved it.
It's easy to learn, fun to play, and the level of play depends of the players. My now 10 yr old has learned some really good strategy skills from this game. It's not unusual for him to beat 3 adults.
***Remember- when playing with 2 or 3 people, you must always have all 4 colors in play, per the instructions. If 2 players, each person plays 2 colors. If 3 players, each person plays 1 color, and then each player takes turns playing the 3rd color. You will find the game can be quite challenging when you're fighting with your own 2nd color for real estate.

| Neat but caution
I love this game! But we've found that for family play, it's best to explicitly decide ahead of time if we're going to play "all out" (that is, aggressively), or more "for fun." We've found that, for our youngest daughter, time spent playing with the pieces in more cooperative ways (e.g., seeing if we can fit all the pieces onto the board at the same time; seeing what patterns we can make with the colors), has helped her feel like she can have some mastery, too. (Yes, we probably sometimes do play too seriously, too!)

| Love it!
This is game is great when 4 people play. The rules are simple but it still makes you think. We also have Blockus duo, which is for 2 two people. You really can't play the full size Blokus with 2 people. But over Christmas, Blokus was the game of choice for everyone! We love it!

This game is boring with 2 players, with 3 its to easy really you need 4 people for it to be really fun and challenging.

Blokus is a fun game which you can jump right into and play.
The rules can be learnt in 3 minutes, and the basic strategy is not complicated -- though it has some depth. Plays quickly, and is easily enjoyed by a family of non-gamers.
I first played this game with my wife's family, and even her 78 year-old grandmother picked it up right away and had a great time.
One caution: This game can be cutthroat, as it involves staking and protecting your claim on a precious resource -- board space. Playing well may require not playing nice, so take care if you're the type that takes games too seriously.

| Great game
Blokus is easy to learn and fascinating to master. We play all the time and keep coming up with new strategies.

| Great entry level game
Blokus is an excellent, simple game for a ligh-hearted gaming group or as a change of pace from more hard-core strat games like Purto Rico or Catan Knights & Cities.
Only 2 rules that you need to know: start your 1st piece in your corner and then connect your pieces only by the corners. That's it. Teaching someone to play takes about 60 seconds; games usually only take about 20 minutes.
The strategy comes from trying to figure out where the 'contested' areas of the board are and where only you can play pieces. Trying to figure out two or three moves ahead how pieces will fit inbetween other players pieces and where do you need to play 'now' instead of later so someone does not take your spot is the interesting and exciting part of this game.
The game plays only with all four colors so if you play with four, each plays one color. If you play with 2 players, each player controls two colors and your score is the combined final score of both your colors. If you play 3 players, each plays on color and the 4th color is then played be each player in succession. On the 1st turn, player #1 plays the fourth color in addition to their own normal play. On the 2nd round of play, player #2 plays the fourth color in addition to their own normal play. On the 3rd round of play, player #3 plays the fourth color in addition to their own normal play. Use the fourth color to block your opponents when you can and generally mess up their play. It is great fun.
The bottom line is that this has all the hallmarks of a great 'German' board game: simple to learn, hard to master and fun to play. I highly recommend adding Blokus to your game playing inventory.
