Description:

Jambo! is the friendly greeting Swahili traders offered their customers in Central Africa before colonization. The players are traders in this day, competing to be the first to earn 60 gold by selling tea, hide, fruits, salt, silk, and trinkets. The game is played with cards which represent goods, people (which can help you or hinder your opponent), and animals (which add a bit of spice to the game). Players take turns with up to 5 actions per turn until one player reaches the goal and wins the game.

Our Review:

Jambo involves playing the roll of an African merchant who must acquire and sell inventory for maximum profit. Native wildlife and tribal traditions play a part in how lucrative your enterprise is. It is a relatively simple two-player card and token game that offers consistent fun. The variety of cards ensure that there is always more to learn and that each game will play out differently. The artwork is well done and visually appealing, and the game mechanics make Jambo fun to play. As winner of the BoardGameRatings.com Best 2-Player Game in 2005, and as a finalist for the prestigious Spiel des Jahres award in 2005, this game should have wide appeal to gamers of all types.

User Reviews:

Jambo! rating: 5/5 stars Great game

Jambo was the second 2 player game we bought and has been consistently fun for the months we have had it. The concept is simple but there is enough variety to keep things interesting. Strategy is learned in layers. Great fun.
