 Does not go well with inns and cathedrals
WARNING! Do not buy if you have or are going buy inns and cathedrals or traders and builders. It completely unbalances the game either with inns and cathedrals or traders and builders or worse both.

I only own regular Carcassone and not the Hunters and Gatherers game. I have found that when I really want to go all out with all the rules the king and thief this expansion gives are a great way to add more spice to the game. I find these to additions especially thought provoking when coupled with the Traders expansion. The king and theif work like this:
King-whoever completes the biggest city by the time the game ends gets one point for every completed city on the map (this person didn't have to get the points for the city they completed)
Thief-same rule except for roads.
Now that I've told you what the new rules are I will tell you why it is actually worth buying. It comes with a couple new pieces that are amazing. Topped off by a bridging city piece!
Worth the $5 for that piece alone.
