My Word, published by Out of the Box Publishing, is an amalgamation of a lightning fast game of Scrabble and a word unscrambling brainteaser. The game is played with cards that display either a single letter or a two-letter combination (the occasional wildcard adds spice). Players hurry to spell words out of the letter combinations found on the cards in play. Cards are continually added to play until a player identifies a valid word. As soon as the player successfully puts the word together, he or she takes the cards used to spell the word out of play. Once you've run through the entire deck, the player with the most cards wins the round.
My Word works very well as an educational game for those learning to spell. Not only is it extremely easy to learn, but it is also plays quickly--a game can be completed in as few as five minutes. While word-game lovers will find My Word to be a nice addition to their collections, slow spellers will absolutely detest My Word. I find My Word great as an educational tool and good for an occasional quick breather between other games. However, it won't appeal to everyone.
